ATO's Response:
All MCS lodgments, including SMSF annual returns (which we use to create a MCS record), were incorrectly rejected due to an ATO's internal processing problem for a short period during August. The ATO has rectified the problem now and we will be reprocessing all lodgments received during that time. SMSF clients can safely ignore any output reports they received during August advising we can't accept an MCS.
As this processing problem effected all super funds (ie non-SMSFs lodging MCS) we are not sure of the communication process the ATO will be undertaking. We can only apologise for the error and advise you that steps have been taken to ensure it won't happen again, that effected clients won't need to lodge again and that there will be no effect whatsoever on any super funds caught with MCS rejection notices issued during August. |
